Official Welcome at AZKUNA ZENTROA

BIOSPAIN 2016 Welcome Reception will take place in the Azkuna Zentroa, a landmark building previously known as Alhondiga Bilbao.    The building was built in 1909  as a wine warehouse and it was renovated in 2010 following the design of Philippe Starck. At present day, Azkuna Zentroa is a multipurpose venue with restaurants, auditorium, shops, a fitness centre and a large open public square.

Pintxos Route Downtown Bilbao

Why is the food in the Basque Country so good? We are going to find out thanks to this tapas route downtown Bilbao.

Tapas, or Pintxos as they are called in the Basque Country, are ususally eaten in bars or taverns as a small snack while hanging out with friends or relatives. They have a strong socializing component and they are usually regarded as a cornerstone of the Spanish culture and society. Together with your delegate materials, you will be given 3 vouchers to exchange for free pintxos and drinks in a selected number of bars & taverns downtown Bilbao. This way, you will be able to enjoy a typical Basque evening with the rest of Biospain 2016 delegates and keep the networking on!
