PUBLIC PROCUREMENT OF INNOVATION: INTERNATIONAL TRENDS AND EMERGING OPPORTUNITIES

Wednesday, September 28th (11h00-12h30)
Room D

Public procurement of innovation (PPI) is becoming increasingly important in the international policy arena as one the most effective demand-side policies for R&D+I promotion. OECD countries that have acquired expertise in PPI consider it a key strategy to support technology-intensive sectors. In emerging countries, particularly in Latin America, the phenomenon is more recent, but already awakens great interest both in the departments responsible for R&D+I promotion and in the national procurement agencies. This table intends to provide perspectives on international trends and emerging opportunities in PPI, both in the EU and  in Latin America, for technology-based companies and in particular for bio-businesses.
